The journey is half traversed and we say with pride that it is a semester well spent. We have gone through the four wonderful months of June, July, August and September and as we hand over your wards to you, for the Dussehra and Dipavali vacation, we hope that it will be a break well spent.
At the onset, let me extend my best wishes to every one of you for the forthcoming two festivals. May the Goddess of love and light fill your homes and hearts, while in turn dispelling any tiny bit of pain and sorrow. Its celebration time once again as you bring out all your glittering clothes and diyas. Let the glitter outside touch your hearts within and may you in your turn spread warmth and sunshine all around.
Yes, my readers, we have come to the end of the first semester of the academic year 2011-12 and it has been a time well spent. Both inside and outside the classroom. Our students have gone through three testing phases when what they were taught in the class was put before them in the form of the mandatory question paper. The Formative Assessments I and II as also Summative Assessment for students between Standards VI to PUC II on the one hand with one class test, one Unit Test followed by the Term End examinations from the 23rd of September to the 1st of October. The earlier results are already with you and the results concerning the Term End / Summative Assessment I will be handed over to you when you return with your wards on the 1st of November 2011.
As you parents already know, the lessons for every class are vast and hence, every day counts. So, please ensure that you bring your child back to the campus on the 1st of November itself. Needless to remind you, that delay in return to the campus will also invite a penalty fee of Rs.100/- per day.
The opener to this academic year – the June July 2011 issue of the school bulletin has already been mailed to you, and we now take pleasure in placing yet another issue – the August September one before you. Both As usual, and as the name itself suggests, August – with its august presence in our midst gave us so many wonderful memories to cherish. Royal and ethereal indeed as it brings with it two wonderful festivals – one religious and the other national but both equally special to every Indian heart. On the one hand, everyone, irrespective of whether he is a Hindu, Christian or Muslim loves to celebrate because it is the very epitome of the two beautiful words `loving’ and `caring’.
Yes readers and parents of our inmates alike – we celebrated Raksha Bandhan on the 13th of the month.
The other and no less important but rather of prime significance – this time a national one– our very own and to be always cherished our nation’s Independence Day.
Raksha Bandhan – This is a festival that has held sway over every Indian heart, no matter where he may be. A day which every brother looks forward to because it reminds him sharply of one stark truth. Family and its ties can never be given a back seat. However self made and independent a man, he sometimes or the other craves for love and attention and the sacred thread that his sister ties on his wrist on this auspicious day reinforces this fact. 28th, 29th and 30th August 2011 – CBSE Cluster VII Table Tennis Competitions were conducted at Nalagonda, Andhra Pradesh. Master Govinda, Manik, Saurabh, Abhishek Chidri, Salman Pasha, Aniket and Chandrahas Prabhu went on to take up the challenges and put on a great show. This being their first exposure to an inter school tournament, which in turn had them a wee bit nervous, they were unable to capture the first three slots. However they have shown promise and determination and their performance has been appreciated by all the spectators and the members of the organizing committee.

22nd to 25th September – CBSE Cluster VII Chess Competition held at Chennai. Students from 119 schools had assembled here to participate in this competition. Masters Abhishek Biradar, Dhananjay Naik, Omkar Vaidya, Vanmalli Kulkarni, Adeprasad, Girish Kumar, Mohd. Nizam, Keerti Siddeshwar represented our school and by virtue of their performance, our school has been ranked 21 at the Under 14 Years participants’ level and No.17 at the Under 19 Years level.

Thus says the Lord to every heart that beats – Look up little one and smile. What is it that makes you worry so? Why do you fear the dark of night or the loneliness of the woods? Why do you cry and worry so? I, the Lord am there with you and no matter what, be it hail, wind or snow – I’ll take you through.
Yes Lord, your people rejoice as always in the knowledge that your divine presence is on us. Our heads bow low in adoration to you. Steadfast as the rocks and anchor beyond compare, you are every man’s guiding light and source of inspiration. Down the ages, man has reposed confidence in the knowledge that you are always there – no matter if friends, relatives or any other person deserts us – you and only you – friend beyond compare - you never leave our side. You take each one of us by the hand and gently guide us on. Father Supreme and omnipotent benefactor, you cast your protective shroud over every head and shield us from every type of foe – be it the work of man, beast or nature.
We know at the back of our kinds that we are nothing without you. Yet being human and frail, we fail to understand your plans and continue to err. Quick to sing your praises when everything goes the way we wish and quick as lightening to forget you when something unpleasant faces us. We fail, at most times, to fathom your plans for us. Pardon us Lord during these times Lord and continue to lead us on.

Spare me some of your valuable time - come leaf through the pages of this edition of the School’s bulletin and take pride in the knowledge that your children are indeed learning to face the challenges of life head on.
This issue which comes to your desk is a combination on the events that took place during the summer break as well as at the beginning of the new academic year 2011- 12. Read through its pages and you will know for yourself that your efforts and money have not gone waste.
Academic learning for the year 2010-11 which culminated on the 4th of March after completion of the final examinations resumed with full gusto yet one more time on the 5th of June with the return of the students at the senior level. The ones at the junior level together with their counterparts at the Standard IX level came in a week later, i.e. on the 12th of June.
Beginning with the last year, the school conducts summer classes for the students of standards IX, X and PUC II year level. They were therefore allowed to go home on the 26th of March but came back and were with us from the 5th of April to the 5th of May 2011.
The campus which had as if gone into a deep slumber for a whole two months began to vibrate and come alive as the month of June moved in. The trees, the birds which had gone to sleep – they all came alive as the sweet pitter patter of little feet and the tinkling laughter of all the students who had returned back to the campus after a well deserved holiday filled the air.
In they trundled, bag and baggage, greeting and calling out to all their friends. There was however a mixed expression on every face. Happy as they met up with their class fellows and friends but at the same time a wee bit upset and clinging on to their parents’ hands.
Our school being a residential school, the students stay with us for the better part of the year and those who are already with us have no trouble settling in, but the first timers and especially at the lowest rung of the ladder it becomes a wee bit difficult. New faces, new surroundings and the thought of being separated from their parents makes them sob no end but just for a couple of hours or days at most.
The Manik Public School
Just as we say that every individual is important in his own special way, so also the months of the year. Each of them has something special to teach us. Come out and shine, come and sway said the sunny months of April and May. Calling to the children, the middle aged man and the old, these months spelt joy unbounded and rejoicing – weddings, naming ceremonies, et all. Picnics, parties and gay festoons became the order of the day.
For us at the Manik Campus, they were special in yet one more way as prospective parents continued to come in and enroll their kids into our school. Time whizzed past and before we could say `cheez’, it was re-opening day again with both old and new students trooping in.
The school surpassed its previous records with admissions at the school level touching an all time high at 104 new entrants. The details read as under:

There are many among the new entrants who hail from the local vicinities of Bhalki, Bidar, Basavakalyan and for that matter even Humnabad where a lot of English medium schools abound. If they so desired, they could have enrolled their wards into any of these schools but ---they have preferred The Manik Public School to those and admitted their wards here. Their trust and faith in our Institution speaks – need we say more????
Thank you indeed parents for reposing your trust in us and entrusting your precious ones into our care. The Principal and her staff, both teaching and ancillary take over from here give you a simple but solemn promise. Your trust and confidence will not go amiss. Your kids are like the tender saplings which we will nurture and hand over to you as full fledged trees bursting with ripe fruits and flowers. We will convert them – from rough unpolished stones into sparkling precious diamonds. This is our promise to you.
Founder’s Day 2011. This is the day, this was the day and this will be the day that takes precedence over everything that is celebrated at our School as also the entire width and breadth of Maniknagar. This was the day when the courier supreme – Lord Shri Manik Prabhu blessed us with a baby boy – a child who though born like any other child grew up and dedicated his life for the betterment of his very own – a man who turned a small sleepy hamlet into a throbbing hub of learning.
Yes readers, Shreeji was the man who dreamed big dreams and worked ceaselessly. The Manik Public School
As in the years prior to this, February 1, 2011 which has been demarcated as our Founder’s Day was celebrated with due fervour and pomp, albeit a slight change. We missed our special person, Shreeji - in the flesh of course, his presence could be felt all around. but we could feel you all around. The unseen but special host, he could be felt here, there and everywhere – in the rustle of the leaves, the silent whisper of the breezes that blew, in the smiles of the little ones, and in fact, everything around.
The celebrations for the day began with the inauguration of the Arts & Science Exhibition by our President, His Holiness Shri Dnyanraj Manik Prabhu Maharaj. Various items of interest by way of artifacts, projects, drawings and other paraphernalia compiled and put up for display by our very own students sent out a treat to the eye.
Artistically planned and beautifully displayed, each piece impressed everyone who visited the Exhibition. The school and the ones at the helm do not believe in making tall claims. We let our work speak for us and this is what the artifacts on display did. Academic, cultural, physical, curricular and co-curricular activities are all part and parcel of the school’s curriculum. Come on and shed your fear of the morrow or your case, students, what the critics will say. Give shape and colour to yourt thoughts and let everything else take a back seat. Go child go, this is the time, this is the place where you can experiment and soar. Your teachers and elders are there, right behind you to guide and lead you on.
Routine tests and competitions apart – in dramatics, elocution, handwriting, brain teasers, the school also doubly ensures that the students do not forget the traditions and culture of their motherland. Both religious and national festivals are celebrated with due decorum, fervour and pomp which they rightly deserve.
No matter what the festival be - Ganesh Chathurthi, Makatr Sankranti, Holi, Id, Yelamavas – care is taken to ensure that it is celebrated with the reverence and fervour it calls for. Participating in these festivals, the ideals and mottos behind these celebrations get strongly etched and ingrained in their mind. On the other hand, and more important at their age, they do not miss their family members because we plan the festivities in exactly what way they would have expected at their homes.
This in turn has a two sided benefit. First of all, the children do not miss their family members at this time and secondly, but equally importantly, they do not forget the cultures and traditions of our motherland.
New Additions on the Teaching Front
Some pluses here and some minuses there. The entry or exit of any staff member is a natural phenomena which is synonymous with any organization. While we would like our staff, both teaching and ancillary to be a part of our Institution for a considerable length of time, it so happens that for reasons beyond even that particular individual’s control, he / she moves away from us. The close of the academic year 2010-11 saw us bidding a fond farewell to Mr. Mohamed Yasin, Senior Maths teacher who due to personal family calling, moved away from us. He was indeed an asset to the school, but then, as we have said earlier, our sincere best wishes are with you. May your future brighten up with each passing day and seeing you achieving all your goals. While on the one hand, we bid a farewell to Mr. Yasin, we have two more teachers to our English Department – Mrs. G. V. Seshamma Murthy and Miss Jyoti Prakash at the senior and lower primary section respectively.
We welcome both these teachers into the Manik fraternity and hope their stint with us will be mutually beneficial – both to them as well as the school. The Principal and her band of teachers extend their whole hearted support to you.
Siddharaj House sees fruition: One more cherished dream of our Founder, His Holiness Shri Siddharaj Manik Prabhu Maharaj saw fruition with the completion of the construction of Siddharaj House.
The lower half of the House being complete and ready in all respects, the students were moved in on the 7th of June 2011 from their existing Houses to this new House. Their parents had of course given their written consent to this on forms which were designed for this purpose. Prior to this, we had the `Vastu Shanti’ which was held on the 3rd of June 2011.
The rituals began at around 6 a.m. in the morning and went on till around 2.00 p.m. There was the traditional lighting of the Deep with floral tributes offered to our deity, Lord Shree Manik Prabhu and our Founder President, Shreeji who has himself laid the foundation stone for this new House.
Among the distinguished persona gracing the occasion, to begin with we had none other than our President His Holiness Shri Dnyanraj Manik Prabhu Maharaj, Vice President Shri Anandraj Manik Prabhu Maharaj together with their families and Matoshree, Smt. Meerabai Manik Prabhu – wife of our Founder President, H. H. Shri Siddharaj Manik Prabhu Maharaj, our Principal, Smt. Sumangala R. Jagirdar, together with her staff, both teaching and ancilliary also graced the occasion.
Poojas and rituals having been concluded, all the persons present partook of the meals which were served and the function came to an end. As a token of appreciation, a set of clothes each was also given to all the persons who had worked on the construction site.
This is just the beginning and we have a lot of plans in store for the children who are with us and will in the future continue to enroll here. As everyone associated with the Manik banner is aware, the school ceaselessly strives to give the best of the best to every student enrolled here. Keeping in mind, the amenities / comforts which are a part and parcel of modern day life, this House new House – Siddharaj House has therefore been planned with all the latest state of the art amenities a person can expect at a residential school.
To begin with this House has 4 individual dormitories on each floor and 12 inmates can relax comfortably after close of study hours. A separate `Prep‘ room has also been set aside for the inmates where in the quiet, cool and peaceful confines of the room, the students can study undisturbed and for a considerable length of time. Needless to say that we anticipate our students will use the facilities at their disposal and pass their forthcoming examinations with flying colours.
Every inmate of this House has been provided with al built in cupboard each with two partitions – one to house their day to day clothes and the other to store their suitcases and surplus belongings. Besides the cupboard, there is open space both above and below where they can place their suitcases, bags (on the top) and buckets, footwear, etc. below.
The House has also been equipped with the latest in heating technology. The Modern Solar System installed atop the terrace ensures that there is a constant supply of hot water from the taps. Gone are those days when coal and fire came together and one had to wait for 30 – 40 minutes to have a hot refreshing bath.
The latest amenities with respect to hygiene also taken into consideration, we have introduced modern (English) toilets with flush system at the House.
New Acquisitions: The past couple of years has also witnessed a considerable inflow of day scholars from the neighbouring precincts of Gadvanti, Hudgi and Humnabad. With a view therefore to making the students’ travel more comfortable and also to ease the load on the other bus, the school in the month of July 2011 acquired and pressed into service yet another school bus. At this juncture, we would like to press forward one major point. We on our part aim at providing your child with all possible amenities. It is now up to the parents of the day scholars to keep this in mind and ensure that their wards attend school regularly.
Sintex Tanks for every House: Our special thanks also go out to our Principal, for her unceasing efforts in providing every possible amenity to the inmates of all the seven Houses. Commencing this academic year, every house now has a Sintex tank fitted to the boiler to ensure that there is no shortage of hot bathing water which is so very essential during the morning hours especially when the students have to get up for their morning preps.
Thank you once again Madam and we pray that the Lord continues to bless you with good health and peace of mind.
National Cadet Corps: Part and parcel of the activities that are conducted at The Manik Public School, the National Cadet Corps continues to surge ahead. Taking shape in the year 1980, it today has a strength of 80 cadets on its rolls.
Students studying in the 8th standard and above, either boys or girls can enroll here at the Junior Division level. Camps OF 10 days’ duration are conducted by the KAR 32 BN Batallion on a regular basis and our students are deputed there to take training
which involves rifle shooting, drill exercises, map reading, field craft and weapon handling.
Two camps have already been conducted during the first half of this semester. The first camp was held from the 17th to the 26th of June 2011 and the second from the 6th of the 15th of July 2011 in which 50 and 18 students participated respectively.
Sweet Reckoning: First we hear, watch and observe. Then we write and understand what we have heard, seen or observed. These being the basic steps to increase our knowledge, the teachers spared no efforts towards this end and after that what naturally followed was the time for assessing and ascertaining whether their efforts had reaped rewards or gone futile.
The first round of this assessment – viz. the First Unit Test for Classes UKG to Standard V and Formative Assessment I for Standards VI to PUC II. The corrections are in progress which will be followed by an assessment by the Principal and the Academic In-Charge after which the report cards will be prepared and handed over to the respective House Masters. The report cards of the Day Scholars can however be collected from Shri R. N. Jadhav, Vice Principal in his office.
